Due to our location, which is in the middle of a beautiful thick indigenous forest, we recommend arriving at Trogon House before nightfall. If you experience any problems along your way, do not hesitate to give us a call. And please remember that you will be travelling on a gravel road for 1km from monkeyland entrance in order to reach the lodge.

Trogon House Rates

Dining

Breakfast is included in the rate and to start off the day we offer a delicious Fruit Cocktail, followed by a hearty FULL English breakfast. Bruce also makes the BEST omelettes in the world…so if that’s what you fancy just ask and we will gladly assist. In fact, because we are such a small, intimate lodge we encourage our guests to let us know exactly what it is that they would like. If we don’t have it on hand, then we will certainly make a plan to get it and have it ready for you the following day. Or simply let us know in advance if you have special dietary requirements and we’ll do the rest to ensure you feel right at home.

Breakfast is served between 8AM – 10AM, because we have 2 rooms that are adjoining the main villa and in close proximity to the kitchen, we respectfully cannot start breakfast any earlier than 8AM…however if you wish to get an early start and don’t want to leave on an empty stomach then please inform us the day before your departure and we will happily arrange a breakfast pack for you at no additional charge. Because you are family now.

During the evenings, and again due to our location in the middle of the forest, we offer a 3-Course Dinner every night to our guests. All meals and menus are planned and prepared daily, so we will always ask you at the beginning of your reservation whether you’d like to have dinner with us on your evening of arrival. If you have any preference, please let us know and if our cooks can deliver we’ll gladly do so. Please also inform us of any dietary requirements so that we are well prepared before your arrival. The closest shops are 25 minutes’ drive away, so we ask very nicely that you communicate in advance with us. The 3-Course Dinner by candlelight is R 375 per person.

We also offer a selection of platters to our guests…these are mainly for the Forest Spa packages, but guests are more than welcome to book them to enjoy in their rooms or at the lodge as well.

• Spa platters are R 390.00 per platter ( which is easily shared between 2 people )

Children

Please note that unfortunately we do not accept children under the age of 12 years. Trogon House & Forest Spa is a rather unique property, and with its elevated boardwalks and unprotected pool, as well as all the glass windows and furniture, it is sadly not a safe or child-friendly environment. We cater mostly for Honeymooners, so if you are wanting to experience a magical evening with us, rather make plans for the kids to stay with family and come and have a romantic getaway in the forest.

Points To Note About Trogon House

Due to the wild forest environment of Trogon House:

• Cellphone reception is good, weather permitting and wifi is available in public areas but may be slow in bad weather.
• There is a 1km dust track leading from Monkeyland parking through the forest to Trogon House, but is driven every day by normal cars without problem.
• We offer an evening meal to our guests who prefer not to drive out at night, but we are a 5 roomed luxury B&B, not a hotel. so even though we have 24 hour staff on site, we do not have a 24 hour reception service and such other services expected of a hotel.
